Dear All, Greetings from CWC, The Concerned for Working Children!! We have been seeing some mails from people inquiring about pre-IDEC visits around India. We, CWC, would like to invite those interested in seeing first hand some Innovative Education programmes in India, to Namma Bhoomi, our vocational training centre in Kundapur, Karnataka, India and/or our Education programme in Bangalore City, Karnataka, India. Our education programme is operational in both urban and rural areas. We work primarily with working children and they are the key beneficiaries of our education programme, though our programme in in operation in formal schools as well. In addition to education, we focus on empowering working children through encouraging their involvement in all decision making processes concerning them. We have facilitated the formation of Bhima Sangha (a union of, by and for working children with with a membership of over 13,000, striving for the realisation of child rights) and Makkala Panchayats (Children's councils) in both rural and urban areas. Karnataka is a South Indian state and it is 1440 Kms southwest of Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. Whilst in Kundapur, you can stay at Namma Bhoomi at the rate of Rs.300/day inclusive of food. Whilst in Bangalore, we will arrange for your stay depending on your budget. Since CWC and Bhima Sangha are also participating in IDEC, we could perhaps leave together for Orissa from Bangalore, if our schedules match.
