Yaacov Hecht, Head of The Israeli Institute for Democratic Education
The Israeli Institute for Democratic Education (IDE) was founded by Yaacov Hecht in 1995, the founder and the principal of the first Israeli democratic school in Hadera (1987). In addition, Yaacov established the first IDEC -International Democratic Education Conference in the Hadera school premises in 1993.
Approximately 25 staff members work in the Institute in various fields- Organization Consultation, Education, Environmental Planning, Human Rights, Organizational Innovation, Philosophy, History, Environmentalism & Sustainability and others.
The Institute is active in Israel as well as world wide.

founders of Mishlav School in Haifa; coordinator in "Chinuch, Miktsoa v'avoda"
center.

Mr. Yaacov Hect
President of The Institute for Democratic Education.
Founded The Democratic School in Hadera, Israel in 1987 and served as its
principal until 1997.
Initiated the first IDEC in Israel in 1992.
Established The Institute for Democratic Education in 1995 and has since then
served as its president.

A lecturer on human rights and multi-cultural society in The Institute for
Democratic Education and The Jewish Agency; human rights activists in The
Ministry of Education; consultant in the project for detached youth of The
Ministry of Education; coordinator in the forum of Hakeshet Hademocratit
Hamizrahit; facilitation of group work with a focus on arts, consultant on
democratization processes in schools, writing a series of books on children
from various cultures in Israel; finishing her M.A studies in group
facilitation with the help of arts.
